My Background | ||||
|
I was born in Dar
es salaam, Tanzania. My paternal grandfather came to Tanzania (at
that time Tanganyika) in 1874 and opened a hardware shop in the name of
"GM Sulemanji & Sons" in Dar es salaam. I lived in
Tanzania until I was about 19 years and after that moved to the United
States to attend college. I graduated from University of
Maryland in College Park, Maryland in 1991 with a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical
Engineering. After graduation, I worked around as a consultant on short-term
projects and finally accepted an offer from a local utility (Potomac
Electric Power Co.) in Washington, D.C. to work as
an entry-level engineer. I worked as a project engineer (1991-1998)
and as a senior business analyst (1999-2001).
While working full-time, I continued to attend the university on part-time basis. I joined the Johns Hopkins University Master's program in Environmental Engineering and graduated in May 1997. In the fall of 1997, I joined the MBA program at the American University and graduated in August 2000. I left my career and Washington, DC in 2001 and decided to explore the world and visit my family. I visited Tanzania, Kenya, England, France, Belgium, Germany, and India. I have now relocated from Washington, DC to Toronto, Canada. I currently work as an associate consultant with American Appraisal Canada Inc. in Toronto. Wife: Alifya
